Import and Registration Process for Cars in Europe
(After Export from Dubai)
After your car arrives in the destination country, there are several steps and costs required to complete the registration process. Below is a breakdown of the key costs and processes involved for European countries:
1. PORT CLEARING AGENT IN THE DESTINATION COUNTRY
You’ll need to hire a Port Clearing Agent to handle customs clearance, container unloading, and car handover.
-
What they do: They manage customs and logistics to release your car from the port.
-
How we help: We work with trusted agents in many countries to help you find the best service at the best price.
-
Approx. Cost: $300 per car.
2. CUSTOMS DUTY & VAT
These are mandatory taxes that must be paid before you can collect your car:
-
Customs Duty:
-
10% of the car purchase price
-
10% of the shipping cost
-
-
VAT: 17%–27% of the car purchase price (varies by country).
Your Port Clearing Agent will assist with customs clearance and payments.
3. Certificate of Conformity (CoC) AND REGISTRATION
To register your car, you’ll need a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) and pass a registration inspection:
-
CoC Document: Confirms that the car meets local standards.
-
Where to get it: TÜV NORD (exportgutachten@tuev-nord.de) or the car brand's official dealer.
-
Cost: Starts at $100.
-
Documents needed: Vehicle registration copy, VIN number, and model details.
-
-
Registration Inspection: This is conducted at a registration center in your country.
-
